How to achieve good waterproofing when roofing with tiles on a pitched roof?

When laying tiles on a sloping roof, waterproofing is an important aspect that cannot be ignored. If the waterproofing is not done properly, it will not only cause water leakage but also affect the overall lifespan and daily use of the building.

1. Tile waterproofing

When laying tiles on the roof, cement mortar or waterproof glue can be used to seal the joints and prevent water penetration. This method is suitable for traditional tile materials such as cement tiles and ceramic tiles.

2. Asphalt waterproofing

Apply asphalt waterproofing material on the roof surface to form a solid waterproof membrane. Asphalt has good weather resistance and waterproofing, and is often used for flat and sloped roofs.

3. Elastic waterproof coating

The elastic waterproof coating can form a flexible waterproof membrane, adapting to the expansion and deformation of the roof caused by temperature changes. It is suitable for complex roof structures and can reduce the risk of cracking due to thermal expansion and contraction.

4. Waterproof sheet

Lay waterproof sheets on the roof, such as SBS modified asphalt sheets or self-adhesive waterproof sheets. The sheets are connected by hot-melt glue or welding to ensure a tight joint.

5. Integrated waterproof system

Some roofs use integrated waterproof layers, integrating waterproof membranes, insulation layers, and protective layers for multi-layer protection. This is suitable for high-standard buildings or roof structures that will be used for a long time.
